It doesn’t work because they waited to long for the right moment, so the boys were shoved into a cell where they would be kept until WICKED decided on what to do with them because they waited to long to escape. Thomas, Newt, Minho had a plan to escape WICKED and they were all ready, but they were waiting for the right time to do it. Thomas, Minho, and Newt, also gladers, don’t want their memories back because they don’t trust WICKED, but the older gladers do. The one thing they don’t know is that Thomas has more memories retrieved than they think, and nothing WICKED says can make him believe a word that they are saying.Īs I read on, the story became more and more interesting due to WICKED letting all the glader’s memories come back to them. WICKED, World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department, took everything from Thomas and his friends, the gladers. The scorch is a burned out section on the land and people have caught the flare (a disease that comes from being exposed to the scorch). The time for lies is OVER.” The maze has gigantic cement walls changing every night with grievers which are half-animal and half-machine creatures that roam the maze after the walls close. The Death Cure by James Dashner intrigued me into the book since page one. WICKED stands for World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department. Thomas has been under the watch of the scientists since he was a little boy and can’t wait to have his revenge on WICKED. So therefore, you should only read the first book if you want to avoid love triangles and broken hearts that should've stayed out of the Maze Runner.Picture yourself being controlled by immature scientists who watch your every move. So at the end, when Teresa dies, and tells him she only ever cared for him, he chills in Paradise and decides to.ġ) hook up with Brenda (not really they only kiss, but still)Ģ) forget about his best friend's dying wishģ) give up on the rest of the human race (I mean, stop looking for a cure) If you've read the rest of the series, you know about the big betrayal with Teresa. Much more than Divergent (SPOILER ALERT) when Tris dies. But that doesn't begin to describe how TERRIBLE (sorry I have no other words) the ending was. The first thing is how incredibly boring it was in the beginning and honestly, throughout most of the book. I say it's original and unique because of how the author makes the book based on teens trying to save the world from a deathly disease. I would recommend this book to them because it's original, unique, and thrilling. In conclusion, I think that this book would appeal to other teenagers and young adults because of how the author uses teenagers as characters and also how the characters use slang words that show how teenagers talk. While being there they find out the WICKED has put a bounty on their heads and that Thomas is WICKED’s final candidate. Thomas, Minho, Newton, Brenda, and Jorge decide to escape and head to a walled city named Denver, which is a reserve for uninfected and immune people. After, getting told of the more tests and trials that they have to go through for WICKED to find a cure to a disease called The Flare. This book was unlike other books that I have read because this book kept me on the edge of my seat and made me want to know what happened to the characters next.įor example, Thomas and the rest survivors from the Maze and the Scorch Trials get held at WICKED headquarters. Also, in the book, the characters are fighting a disease called The Flare and I can relate to it because of the way that I am also fighting a disease called Coronavirus (Covid-19). I say this because of how the author uses slang words in the book to make the characters sound more like teenagers. Second, I liked this book because of the way I could relate to the young teenage characters and the conflict that they go through. The author puts italic words and phrases so that you can know that the characters are taking or acting differently. Also, in the book, you can find chapters and some italic words and phrases that the author put in. This picture gives you a visual of where the book is taking place. On the cover of the book, you can see a picture of a big building on a snowy mountain. The genre of this book is teen and young adult science fiction.
